Shaun McCarthy is Owner of Action Sustainability Ltd and Chairman of the Commission for Sustainable London 2012, the independent assurance body tasked with delivering on the promise of making the 2012 Olympics the most sustainable ever.
Here Shaun explains how and for what purpose the Commission was established and what his role as Chairman of the same entails. He goes on to discuss in detail the three very separate roles fulfilled by the Commission and how each of these activities ties in to deliver on the demanding sustainability requirements set. Going back to London’s initial bid for the Olympics Shaun points out that sustainability was put at the heart of the preparations for the Games from day one. He goes on to explain how methodical risk and performance management was required to meet the challenge of sustainable procurement. Shaun concludes this video discussing the role clear and efficient communication played in achieving highest sustainability standards in partnership with a variety of private and public bodies alike.
